Ann comes from a long line of seafaring Newfoundlanders whose family roots can be traced to the Bay Bulls area where her father was a fisherman. In fact her brothers still run O'Brien's Boat Tours in Bay Bulls, one of the most popular and award winning whale watching services in the province. From childhood she has developed a deep love and appreciation for the sea and the hard working people who made their living from it.
Like many Newfoundlanders, Ann carries this strong work ethic and love of life with her wherever she goes and her guests are treated to a good taste of Newfoundland culture and history - with a few laughs along the way.
Speaking of taste, having been involved in the hospitality and tourism industy all her life, Ann knows a thing or two about how to make a guest feel right at home, and her B&B is known for serving delicious traditional treats such as local berries, salt fish cakes, really great local sausage and other home cooked goodies, and the best tea and coffee on historic Gower Street.

There's a lot to be said for starting the day off with a hearty breakfast. It's your last little break before you start your busy day of sightseeing in the oldest city in North America.
Breakfast is also one of the times you are most likely to run in to one of our other guests and who knows maybe strike up a life long friendship with a total stranger. We have visitors from all over the world so you never know who you'll meet.
It is also when you're likely to have the privilege of meeting our colorful host and world traveller herself Ann O'Brien or manager Lisa Clarke, both have vast knowledge of the city and always have a good story to tell and a laugh to share.
